In this tear-down of the Valve Steam Controller, we inspect its construction, build quality, disassembly steps, and repairability. We found the controller's overall assembly to be excellent, with impressive ease-of-repair features (like clear, plain English labeling on all of the boards and connectors). The battery is also quick to remove and replace in the controller, being the first thing exposed when the chassis is opened. Overall, it's clear that Valve made a major effort to build a controller that can be fixed and maintained long-term.
